Masterclass in Residential Lighting Design: working through a case study
In this online masterclass, lighting designer Suzy Dallas, will guide you through the lighting design process for a real high-end residential project. Using the ground floor of a North London home as a case study, she'll demonstrate how a lighting scheme develops from the initial brief through to specification, explaining the decisions, challenges and practical considerations at each stage.
The session will also introduce key lighting principles, including beam angles, lenses and other essential photometric concepts, helping you understand how technical decisions influence the overall design.

- Gain knowledge of the lighting design process, including timings and the sequence of works.
- Understand how to design a space using layered lighting and circuiting.
- Gain a grasp of how, why and what to specify in terms of light fittings and their positioning.

Suzy is a lighting designer and lighting product designer with a background in interior design. For over 10 years, she has worked as an architectural lighting designer and, more recently, as a decorative lamp designer. A Member of the British Institute of Interior Design, Suzy is passionate about elevating the importance of professional lighting design within the architectural design arena.
Through her Lighting Design Tutorials, she supports architects, developers, and interior designers in achieving successful lighting schemes. Beyond her design practice, Suzy is a proud supporter of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and the rapid response for natural disasters charity Serve On.
